Monterey Park City Hall

 Location: Monterey Park City Hall
SGVMWD Partners Monterey Park Public Works Department
Description/Highlights City Hall is centrally located; part of a busy civic center that includes the Police Department, Fire Station, Public Library and Barnes Park, and that is adjacent to residences. It’s a highly visible location and an excellent venue for teaching and informing about water conservation. Thousands of people visit City Hall each year to attend meetings, meet with City departments, conduct City business, attend events and more. The water conservation project featured new drought-tolerant landscaping in planters in front of City Hall, a new irrigation system serving those planters and a high-tech smart irrigation controller.
Completion Date Spring 2011
Funding Grant provided by San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District
Featured Vegetation Low-water and drought-tolerant vegetation including California Native plants, grasses and water-wise succulents. Hardscapes such as boulders and mulch further reduced turf coverage and help conserve water
