BOARD VACANCY

 The San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District (District) is accepting applications for appointment to the Board of Directors. Thomas A. Love has resigned  from the Board effective February 13, 2018, and the Board plans to make an appointment to fill the remainder of his unexpired term, which ends in December 2018.

 The District will accept mailed or personally delivered applications until Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. Selected candidates will be interviewed by Board Members in March 2018. To qualify as an applicant you must reside within Division 4 (The City of Sierra Madre) of the District’s service area, be a citizen of the United States and not have any felony convictions. Only applications from qualified applicants will be considered. Late, emailed or faxed applications will not be accepted.

 Applicants for a Member of the Board are making a commitment to attend Board meetings that are usually held the 2nd Monday of each month at 8:00 a.m. in the District’s Boardroom in Azusa. Special meetings and Standing Committee meetings are occasionally held on other days and times.

 The individual appointed by the Board will be subject to the California Political Reform Act that is administered by the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC). A Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) will need to be submitted within 30 days of assuming office disclosing investments, interests in real property and income for the preceding 12 months. In addition, periodic campaign statements may be required and the appointee will be subject to limitations on gifts, honoraria, etc.

California Assembly Bill No. 1234 requires Board Members to attend a two-hour ethics training course within a year of assuming office and to repeat the training every two years.
